In the Fractured Library demo, you found Elliot lost and confused in the forest outside the Inkthistle Hollow Library, and although you helped him restore most of his memories, how he got to be wandering in the woods remained a mystery – until now.
From the Journal of Elliot
I received a letter from my dear friend Hazel yesterday. Her words were uncharacteristically troubled. She wrote of unruly books and an empty library.
Hazel, ever the optimist, sounded almost… defeated.
I have not set foot there since Mariella passed; the thought of the journey seemed too heavy without her, and I have not read Whispers of the Floating Hollow since.
Yet Hazel needs me now. This morning, I will pack my case and set off for Inkthistle Hollow to lend what help I can.
An odd day.
The road, once so familiar, has become strange to me.
It should be but a few hours’ walk to the library, yet the sun is sinking and the path winds through country I do not know.
Hazel used to say the enchantments would always lead me true. Something in them has shifted; even an old man like me can feel it in his bones.
I have made a small fire.
Beyond its glow, the trees waver as though they hide a village of snow and green folk, but I know all that’s there is more forest. I blink and see only shadows.
Perhaps my eyes, or my mind, are tired.
The night is colder now. Red eyes glint in the dark… foxes, perhaps, though they do not live in the trees.
I grow weary.
I was… on a road. Going somewhere.
A friend?
Mariella would know. She always knew.
If you haven’t played the demo already, it’s staying available to play for free on Steam. And if you liked what you saw, you can help us complete the full game by backing our Kickstarter.
